  I hear your anger at the unfairness of life, it's very randomness. There is no normal. There is no parallel universe where our perfect life without suffering resides. There is only your little sister and you, her big sister, who loves her. She needs you just as much, if not more than before. You don't have to fix anything. Just be there for her. The future is unwritten as of yet and none of us knows what it holds. She may be able to do a lot of those things that you fear she may not. Don't suffer now for her unknown future which may not unfold the way you think it will. Stay in the present moment. Just be with her now and keep loving her. That's what she needs most from you.

  Did you go to your prom?

  my last post doubled up and i ended up seeing it twice, when it should have been once.

  so i though i would just edit it and make it into another topic related to high school.

  When I was a junior, a senior invited me to the senior prom. Of course, I knew I wasn't allowed to date, but I felt pressured by all our friends in the same class. Even the teacher got in on the act and encouraged me to say yes. So I did. My parents were divorced and my mom was inactive so I told him yes but I would meet him there. I visited my mom on the weekends and I think the prom was on a Friday or Saturday night. So when I was at my mom's I asked her if I could go and she said YES! I got dressed at my mom's and caught the bus to the swanky hotel ballroom where the prom was held. He greeted me with wrist corsage (looking very relieved I showed up). It was all very innocent. Lots of teachers and parents chaperoning etc. Very tame.

  That summer, same boy sent me a postcard telling me what a great time he had and how he was looking forward to school starting in September. Only problem is, he sent it to my house and my dad, the elder read it. He beat me black and blue with his belt buckle. I had bruises all over my body. Even another sister in the hall who saw them when I was wearing shorts said "That isn't right!" Of course she was a single mom with no status in the congo so that went nowhere.

  Well, I didn't go to my own senior prom. I was a little wary (traumatized) of proms after that episode. Yeah, those witness parents are so balanced aren't they?

  Alcoholism and the Loss of a good friend

  my friend and work colleague was kelvin.

  often he would be the one to do the "egg and bacon" run at 9:30am after we'd been at work for a couple of hours on the ward.

  down to the hospital cantain he'd go to get us all lots of cholesterol laiden food, egg, bacon, mushrooms,fried bread waffles etc a proper english breakfast.

  I'm sorry you lost your friend. Try not to think of his life as a waste. It'll only make you sadder. It sounds like he was a really great guy in many ways. He helped and cheered patients, and brought laughter to his colleagues at work. That doesn't sound like a waste to me. True, he went before his time and before he needed to becaue of his addiction, but still, it does sound as if he did many good things while he was here. Think of those things when you think of your friend.

  seeing every witness is giving out 50 of the kn 37 brochure three hundred million (300,000,000) will be warned of their impending destruction.. shame about the remaining five billion seven hundred million.

  When groups practice or support or tolerate evils there is a community responsibility for such evils, and to escape coming under this community responsibility individuals must separate themselves, if not physically then mentally and morally and emotionally.

  So then, when I hear of pedophiles, abusive, violent spouses and other such evils being tolerated in the congregations, I should not do as many elder's and CO's have suggested and patiently wait upon Jehovah to correct such matters. Rather, I should immediately separate myself, physically, mentally and emotionally from the organization in order to escape coming under community responsibility for these evils.

  Gee, I guess I did the right thing in leaving then.

  an update on my sister, the blood work came back and she has lupus.. .

  Dear Lola

  I have Lupus, also. It's great that your sister was diagnosed so quickly. It took 3 years for me to get a proper diagnosis and in the end I figured it out myself (nursing background helped) and told the doctor what I thought I had and please do the testing.

  Nowadays, with better medication treatments, 95% of people with lupus lead normal lives. Since I have been on plaquenil (anti-malarial drug), I'm so much better and can do most things I did before. The only thing I have to be careful of is getting lots of rest and keeping my stress levels way down. (nursing was not helpful for this).

  There are some great lupus info sites on the net where you can learn all about it. While I am sorry your sister is ill, I'm so happy to hear your sister has something very treatable.

  Great news Re:violent abusive jw family

  i'm ecstatic have received great news regarding my father: 1) it seems the information that he had been approved as a caregiver for barnardos was actualy incorrect he has never worked for them (sorry for that mis-information) .

  however he had been working for cypf (newzealand children, young persons and their families service) and did have one boy in his care for more than a year.

  2) my post regarding the abuse he inflicted on myself and family here: (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/120383/1.ashx) has been noted by the authorities and they now have a copy of this in thier records (under his name) .

  Do you have any phobias?

  do you have any phobias jw related or not?

  i personally don't have much except having to go through very narrow spaces where i can barely fit in that freaks me out and i also fear very hot weather like over 38 degrees celsius as if it will give me a heat stroke.

  SPIDERS! I absolutely hate them, but I will kill them myself if my husband is not around. I cannot let them live once they have broken the rules and invaded my living space, then they have to die!

  When I was a little kid my bedroom was in the basement of an old house and there were these huge black cellar spiders that would sometimes crawl on us when we were sleeping. My skin just crawls thinking about it. I have also had one crawl across my face when I was just falling asleep as an adult. You have never seen a half-asleep adult react with such ninja like reflexes! I was out of bed with the light on wacking the hell out of the thing in 2 seconds flat! Another time I was bitten while sleeping but I don't know what kind of spider it was. My forearm swelled up and I had painful arthritis from my elbow to my finger joints for an entire week.

  OK, I know I was away for a couple of days, but has anyone else noticed that OpenFireGlass is now a 25 year old woman and Good Girl Bad Girl is now a 33 year old man? I feel like I have entered some sort of alternate reality. I'm so confused. If I join your parellel universe, can I become a hot 21 year old again?

  SHOCKING!

  i just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.

  it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.

  one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.
